World Currency Index is a personal project website that lets anyone browse currencies and banknotes from countries around the world in a simple, intuitive way — just click a flag.

Why we built this

Every time we prepared for a trip abroad or a currency exchange, we found ourselves searching separately for each country's exchange rate and what its banknotes looked like. We wanted a single place to handle all of that, so we built this service.

What we offer

• Currency information by country across Southeast Asia, Asia, Europe, North America, Latin America, Oceania, and Africa
• Near-real-time exchange rates converted to Korean won (KRW), refreshed hourly
• Background on each country's banknote denominations, currency history, and issuing authority
• Links to official sources — mainly central banks — where you can view real banknote images

Data sources

Exchange rate data is provided via ExchangeRate-API and refreshed at most once per hour. Rates may differ from actual transaction rates, so please confirm exact figures through a financial institution before exchanging currency. See our Terms of Service for details.
